Roses and Revolvers: The LadyKillers

See you there!

----via atypicalliving.com----
atypicalLIVING Creative Partners and Prolifik Projects present the most ambitious art show of the Summer 2008 season: Roses and Revolvers: The LadyKillers.

The premise is simple, with all the art events and female-only events, including Girl Fest… I don’t think anyone seriously has done a Hawaii-based all-female art show before. So, with that in mind, the atypicalLIVING crew set out to do the seemingly impossible, round up a collective of dope female artists to throw an art show. What ended up happening was the coming together of 16 of the dopest double-X chromosomes ever brought together in one spot.

Some names you’ll recognize off the bat from the groundUP Pirates: R Zone, Janel Natividad, Lady Julz, Painted Lemon, and Amy Wagner (who, according to everyone who has seen it, has stepped her game up to another level and easily has two of the illest pieces in the show…). Other names look familiar, but can’t really place where you’ve seen them before: Remi, Leah Ball (MidWeek), Lisa Mita (MidWeek / Prolifik), Sonia Castro (groundUP). Other names look familiar, but you’d never have expected them to be in an art show in Hawaii: Hannah Stouffer (Grand Array / Upper Playground), Phallic Mammary (Pocket Full of Monsters / http://jen.lu).

Other names you haven’t even seen before, but you should know, as they make up the Prolifik Projects ninja crew: Jandi Q, Angeli Saura, Merissa Revestir.

And two of the illest women I’ve ever worked with and the two original LadyKillers: the talented Cheryl Membrere (Agency Design / Melange Design / atypicalLIVING) and the always dangerous Miss Yumi (TrueType Tyrant / atypicalLIVING).

All 16 of these women were brought together with one goal in mind, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. What better to battle the number one killer of women than to send out a team of trained art assassins to take it down? That’s the goal behind Roses and Revolvers: to raise money for the ACS and awareness about this disease.

Now that you’ve gotten the information, time to act on it.

Roses and Revolvers: The Lady Killers opens this Saturday night at Prolifik HQ at 939 McCully Street. The gallery opens at 5pm. Entry fee is $10 / $5 if you wear a shirt from one of the sponsors. A portion of the proceeds from the door and the art sales will go to benefit the American Cancer Society. Music will be provided by the head lightsleeper Kavet the Catalyst. Most of the art will be on sale. Interested buyers should find me at the show and inquire about prices.

As a special bonus to those who check out split obsession’s I Got Wood show in Hawaii Kai at the same time… we’ll allow after hours entrance (after 9pm) to those who provide: a valid split obsession receipt dated August 23rd, a wood block from the show, or a picture on their digital camera / phone of themselves with Bruce, Erica, or both. We’ll be here all night, so check out split obsession first, then check out Roses and Revolvers.

The show will be up for the next month and open on an appointment basis. Email me at (jdomingo@atypicalLIVING.com) for more information.

Hope to see everyone on Saturday, as we’ve put a lot of work into this event. Hope we can represent Hawaii, women, and Hawaii’s women the way it should be represented.

Props to all the sponsors for their unbelievable support (lightsleepers, iKandy/exclusive, superCW.com).
